    I still need a title

Post by Mistystar on Thu Jul 18, 2013 1:27 pm

“We have to get her out! It’s not safe for her here!” A command rose above the storms chaos. The men in grey turned around to obey.

“It’s not safe for anyone here! I’m their only chance!” A girl screamed back, desperately trying to herd the large crowd of people away from the outdoor swimming pool.

“No, you are our only chance!” A new voice entered the dark location.

    And everything was dark.

The chaos paused, like it was frozen.

Then a scream erupted from the crowd.

“Aunt Annie!!” It was a young girl’s voice that spoke, her eyes full of pain and terror as she saw her aunt engulfed in a black bag and lifted into the sky.

She stared, confused at the spot that her aunt disappeared. She was to young to understand what had happened. Then she looked around at the heaps of people. They were all flattened on the ground and beginning to stir. Soon they opened their eyes and then closed them quickly as if they saw something scary.

She stood alone next to the pool, watching people crawl around, crying out for help saying ‘I can’t see anything’ etc. She could see just fine.

She didn’t notice as the black cloud lifted into the sky.

All of the people were sputtering as they pulled themselves off the ground, complaining of scratches and bruises until there were only just a few left laying.
    The men in grey.

    I just randomly wrote this.

“Ivy, don’t forget to wash the countertops!” Ms.Winter yelled from the top of the staircase.

I hadn’t forgotten. How could I? She permanently tatooed our list of chores on our wrists, for crying out loud. I had heard of framing it on the wall, a sticky note on the forehead, but this? It was just crazy.

“You don’t think the lawn looks dead, do you?” Rita asked me worriedly. She was my only friend in this place.

“Na, just dormant.” I reply, looking at the stretch of yellow grass as Rita fretted over her main chore. She gave me a look, but couldn’t keep a straight face.

Ah, another day inside Oak Ridge Orphanage. I thought, picturing again the image on the brochure that the police officer gave me on the way here.

I was seven, and this place looked like paradise to me.

The outside matched the picture, and the police officer never went inside to see what looked like slave quarters.

    My quarters.

I tromped down the stairs to the kitchen, grabbed a rag cleaner than my clothes and dampened it with the faucet that looked like solid gold compared to the kids hose. I out some soap on it, squeezed it and began to wipe off the countertops.

I was done before everyone else, probably because, even though I wondered a bit, my list was significantly shorter than the rest due to my, ah, how do you say, failure to complete the other tasks without breaking something.

I guess she figured she could trust me with a countertop and mopping. Key word: Figured.

The wall looked dirty, OK? I didn’t know that, even though it was so expensive a little water could destroy it.

Long story short I know have scars across my wrist from her being cheap. According to her, removing a tatoo is to expensive.

So she cut my arm to cover up that chore.

    Gotta love Ms. Winter
